Some freaked out kids & the secret password is...
by MCV
Jul 8, 2008
So...what is up?!?! This has been the most kick ass month I think we have had in the almost 3 years that we have been together. We have been playing out as much we can and have made some really good friends, sold some records and had people come see us a third & forth time...it has been the most fun i think you can have in a band, especially since we were all in a van for an extended period of time and are still friends.

We got to play some shows with Dead Girls Ruin Everything & had a killer time in KS & MO with them, they are coming our way in Sept. so hopefully everybody can get a chance to see them live...We played downstairs in the Double Door Dirtroom for the 1st time and it is killer too! Great vibe, great staff & cool crowd.

Czars got all crazy btw, pure mayhem! Girls dancing all over the place, fights breaking out & a ton of people all singing along. It was cool tho because the 200 or so people there were having a really good time. We got a little crazy too cuz it was our first home show in months so we knew we could just walk to our beds, this just made me realize we may need to go back & tip the bartender more...he had his work cut out with us that night. Morgan Ingle opened for us that night btw, and she killed it! She was great!

We are fortunate to be joining our new friends Electric Touch in August after their Lollapalooza date to play a few shows (hope I spelled that right-but if not, and Perry Ferrell emails me to give me a correction..that would be AWESOME!)

Also, we are at The Elbo Room in Chicago this Thursday, so we hope you can join us & if you come to the door and tell the guy that you are there to see us, then tell him the secret password is Detroit Rock City, he will give u $2 off admin.

The pic to the right is of 2 kids who came to our free all ages show at the Bandshell in Saint Joseph, MI...don't they look mortified? Had to post this because it makes us laugh everytime we see it, they really look disgusted, especially the one on the left.

After this past few months of working hard, we are really happy with whats going on & still are raising money for the house, and having a good time doing it. (read next entry if you want to know more about the Habitat for Humanity home we are trying to raise money for)

We have new dates posted on the live page & hope to hang out with everyone soon...its late...gonna sign off & if anyone is reading this, thanks for indulging us:)

We wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for coming out in Chicago, Lansing, Saint Joseph & Grand Rapids. You guys really packed those clubs and it was incredible to meet so many cool people & new friends. We also wanted to thank The Lansing State Journal's NOISE magazine for the story...Thanks Christian!

We are still plugging away at the house & selling cd's one show at a time. We have raised about a thousand more this month toward our goal of $75k because of everyones help and our list of build volunteers grows at every show.

We are back in Chicago this June at the Double Door on 6/22 to do an acoustic show in The Dirtroom & then we plug back in again at The Elbo Room on 7/10. (Thanks Damon of Blackbox & Fearless Radio for the love!)

We are looking forward to rocking in Cleveland this coming weekend at The Roc Bar on Saturday Night, going back to Kalama(Zoo) at The Corner Bar on 6/19 & hitting Cheers in South Bend on Saturday 6/6--(Thanks WZOW for playing our songs & promoting the show!)

If you are in the Saint Joseph/Benton Harbor/Niles area, the city is having us out for a free all ages pre-fourth of July show at the Howard Bandshell from 7:30 to 8:30 PM on Thursday July 3rd & we are going back to Czars with DiVine Vodka & WIRX on Friday night 6/27. We hope you can come out & remember, 100% of our album sales are going toward building a Habitat for Humanity Home. We still believe that music can change the world and each album sold gets all of us closer to putting a family into a home. To donate to the house directly just hit the donate link below and we can't wait to meet everyone. Thanks again for the friendship & support...And Jim, thanks so much for what you wrote, we are honored and very thankful...it is posted in our press section and a copy is now on the wall in our dingy basement rehearsal space next to a 'Self-Medicated' poster, a Radiohead concert ticket stub and a list of band names we passed on...

Julee, Matt & Joey

P.S.-We are out with Dead Girls Ruin Everything in June (featuring former members of Ultimate Fakebook) so check our live page & if you are anywhere near Lawrence, KS, Kansas City, MO or Manhattan, KS come hang out with us...
